Final Reflection

Reflection about the entire course is very positive in my mind.Today I can clearly say,that I learned something from this class.From the definitions and mainstream to music,and movies..But beside the "paper" knowledge I learned how to be more practical around the Internet Websites,and how to create some stuff on the computer.To be honest I never used any of those tools,now I know how to use it and I even showed glogster to couple of my friends.This course like opened my views how to look at the movies, and music types.The important thing that I do not have it is, but I think that I made a little progress is about presentations in front of class. We had a lot of presentations in our class, and it was a little challenge for me, even You know that it is so problematical for me. This class even learned me that every time I'm on the train to school, or on the bus to work I always take Red Eye.

Second Reflection

Since we started this chapter about the music, I was little confused.
Firstly, I learned what does the word "Genre" means. It may seems weird but now as I listen to the music I am trying to recognize the type of the music because I just listen what I like to listen and I know three kinds of music.Now I try to recognize it. To be honest I always thought that the most of American songs, even those what are now on the radio, they do not make any sense to me, I know that my English language isn't perfect and I do not understand everything, but I think that I am able to recognize it.So i usually listen to Polish rap, because of sense, to find this deeper meaning of the song.This is interesting, because I am pretty sure that a lot of people pay attention to the lyrics, or what does the video clip mean. This chapter was interesting, and again we learned something new, and again as every chapter showed us something new or realized.

Cultural Ideninty Reflection

On my Cultural Identity Blog I posted a short thriller of my city of origin.He sings about our city how everything has changed since our city was destroyed by Germany army. I also posted a picture from my graduation which was just a year ago In Chicago, Foreman high school.There is a picture of ma favorite place in Poland "Zakopane".I went there every year, during summer brake or winter brake.It is far from my city,because my city is next to the Baltic Sea and Zakopane is on the South of Poland. There is also a picture with my mother on the boat in our favorite place in Bavaria. I also posted a picture of my handball team. I played for seven years,and we won Championship of our Country,and every year championship of our state.

Seeing the Big Picture

To me, film is a visual to something I once imagined while I read a book or heard of a film coming out. It is not a very important part of my life as all I have done until now was just watching them and judging them if they are part of the good films or the bad films. Reading a book is always better than watching a shortened film version of the book you read that also added extra scenes and events that did not happen in the book, I would prefer reading the book since it is also more detailed. The influence on the film depends on what type of film is it, horror, comedy, documentary etc. different films make you think differently and influence you differently, they could make you wonder if something that is in the film would actually happen in the real world, or when talked about a documentary film we could learn some new facts. Very simply, for some people, films are just films, they are there to make you think and to pass time but for some people it is a whole new art, and they love making films and it is their passion, and love to study it or would love to, I am both of these types of people.

Reflection 1

First of all, since we start this class I didn't even realize what is it going to be about at all. After this chapter, I have concious of what we have learned, and what is the point of this course. How do i learn? I don't like to learn from book, to read just definitions and remember them. I like this way, what we have in this class, bu discussion, we have discussions at classroom, and when You explain just once some definition I already can remember this. My "aha" moment was about "salad bowl" I didn't have an idea what does it have common, but now it makes a huge sense in culture. One of my things that I have learned is that America is the biggest country of different nations,races,religions, and cultures..I learned that many cultures were forced to get americanized, but there are still some cultures that keep their traditions, that's why Chicago is for example is divided into neighborhoods,for instance like the Ukrainian village, or Wicker park.. bunch of Irish people used to live there now there is bunch of beaners,as well we can compare it to the melting pot.
